Kenias Mafukidze: Board Chairperson
Mr. Kenias Mafukidze is coming in as the new POSB Board Chairperson. He is a highly accomplished and distinguished professional with a robust background in both the private and public sectors, with experience spanning over three decades. A Chartered Accountant with business leadership experience in investment banking and capital markets, Kenias holds multiple degrees, including a Master of Business Administration, Accounting Science (honours) and a Master of Philosophy in Development Finance.
Since 2017, Kenias has been the Group CEO of Alpha Media Holdings. He founded KMFS, KM Advisory Services, and CEO Africa Roundtable. He is the current Board Chairman of Seed-Co Zimbabwe, past Chairman of Petrotrade, and has held past non-executive directorate (NED) roles at National Railways of Zimbabwe, Fidelity Printers, CBZ Building Society, Venture Capital Company of Zimbabwe, and Interfresh Limited. Kenias is passionate about Economic Development in Zimbabwe and Africa.
Vongai Chiwaridzo (nee Mhiribidi): Vice Chairperson
With over 35 years in financial and management accounting, audit, and general administration, she has held various leadership and executive positions both locally and internationally. Currently working as an independent consultant, Vongai is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Zimbabwe (ICAZ) and an Associate Member of the Zambia Institute of Chartered Accountants (ZICA). Her academic background includes a Bachelor’s Degree in Accountancy from the University of Zimbabwe and a Diploma in Business Studies from Cornwall Technical College in the UK. She has also served on several boards, including the Family Support Trust, Inter-Country People’s Aid, the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe, and the Zimbabwe Women Micro-Finance Bank.
Garainashe Changunda: Chief Executive Officer
Garainashe Changunda is an accomplished executive and career banker with renowned experience in strategy and innovation, digital transformation, and financial management spanning over 25 years. Gary, as he is affectionately known, has well rounded credentials which include a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, an Honours Bachelor of Accounting Science degree, a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree and recently completed a program of study designed by the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership in Sustainable Finance. He is a Chartered Accountant and member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ).
Gary is currently the Chief Executive Officer of the People’s Own Savings Bank (POSB). He was recently appointed to the board of the Institute of Directors Zimbabwe (IoDZ) and sits on the board of the World Savings and Retail Banking Institute (WSBI) based in Belgium, as an alternate board member. He is married to Susan and is father to Rufaro, Anopaishe and Varaidzo.
MARIA GUNDE: Chief Finance Officer
Maria Gunde has a strong background in Finance, Auditing and Administration with over 19 years’ experience in the banking sector. Maria holds a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree, a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree in Accounting and recently completed an ESG Sustainability certification programme offered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Zimbabwe (ICAZ). Maria is a member of the Certified Public Accountants in Ireland and Zimbabwe. She is also a Chartered Accountant and a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland.
Maria is currently the Chief Finance Officer of the People’s Own Savings Bank (POSB). She has previously worked for African Sun and the Office of the Auditor General.
Anymore Taruvinga
A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) holder, with a strong background in finance and investment, with over 16 years’ experience in the financial services sector, Taruvinga is currently the CEO of the Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe. He has extensive experience in banking and capital markets. He also holds an MSc in Finance and Investment and a Bachelor of Commerce Finance (Honours) in Finance. He has previously worked for institutions that include Zimbabwe Stock Exchange, Afrasia Kingdom Bank, MMC Capital and Premier Finance group. He is currently a Non-Executive Director of the Investor Protection Board, and the Vice Chairman of the National Anti-money Laundering Advisory Committee. Anymore possesses strong skills in business development, strategy, and financial analysis.
Michelle Hakata
Hakata is a communications expert with over 30 years of experience in digital and print media. She has advised multinationals, development organizations, and government agencies. She holds a Diploma in Mass Communications, a Masters in International Journalism, and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA).
Dr. Newton Demba
Dr. Demba is a seasoned business management consultant with over 20 years of multi-sectoral experience. His expertise is in procurement and supply chain management, enterprise risk management, corporate governance, strategy formulation, change management, leadership training, and performance evaluation for board of directors. He is the Managing Consultant at Logistics and Research Training Institute (LRTI), and an adjunct lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe in the Faculty of Business Management Sciences and Economics. He currently seats in the Clientsure Group Board and serves as a member of the International Education Standards Committee (IESC) for CILT International. He is the outgoing International Vice President and Chairman of Africa Forum for CILT where he was responsible for overseeing activities in more than 16 countries. Newton had a footprint with Econet Wireless, Zimbabwe Consolidated Diamond Company, Crowne Agency, United Nation’s Children Emergency Fund (UNICEF), United Nations Development Fund (UNDP) and Deloitte & Touche. He is a Certified Professional Director (Pro-Dir), Certified International procurement Professional (CIPP), Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Practitioner and a Chartered Fellow of CILT. He Holds a doctorate degree (PhD) in Business Management, Msc in Strategic Management, BCom in Procurement and Supply Management, BSc(honours) in Sociology, various post graduate diplomas and professional qualifications.
Dr. Dennis Magaya
Dr Dennis Magaya is a Pan-African Transformation Strategist with 29 yrs experience in strategic planning, business operations, technology and AI in Banking, Insurance, Fintech, Government, Telecoms, Media, and Energy sectors in SADC region. He holds a BSc Electrical Engineering, MSC Engineering, Diploma IT, MBA and PhD. He is Founder and CEO of Rubiem solutions a Business and Digital Consultancy Firm. He is Chairman of AI Institute Africa.
Dr. Munyaradzi Chiura
Dr. Chiura has over 25 years of experience in payments, fintech, and financial services, having held senior management roles with global fintech firms including Flywire, Flutterwave, and MPOWER Financing. He holds Doctorate degrees, a Master Certificate in Information Technology and Project Management and is a certified Six Sigma Black Belt.
Dorothy Mapimhidze: Company and Legal Secretary
Dorothy is the Bank’s Company Secretary and Legal Advisor since the year 2012. She is a legal practitioner who is duly admitted and registered to practice law in Zimbabwe. She joined the Bank bringing on board a wealth of experience gained as corporate counsel in both the private and public sectors as well as having been a state counsel in the Attorney General’s Office’s Legal Advice and the Criminal Divisions for over 12 years. She holds a Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Management (ACCA)2005, an Advanced Certificate in Company Direction (IODZ), 2022, and a Certificate of Proficiency in Pension Funds Administration (2018). Since 2012, she has been pivotal in driving the attainment of enhanced corporate governance within the Bank. She is a member of the Law Society of Zimbabwe, a member of the Corporate Counsel Association of Zimbabwe and Associate Member of the Corporate Counsel Association of South Africa. She is currently a Trustee of the Communication and Allied Industries Fund and has been involved in pension funds administration in different capacities over the years either as a Trustee or Principal Officer of the employer occupational pension Fund in line with her employment that spans over 23 years.
